The Power of Associations

Welcome to the first TAPP blog post!

The TAPP staff set creating a blog as one of our goals for 2012. Our hope is that it will provide information and dialogue with the TAPP members and potential members.  There will be TAPP staff bloggers as well as guest bloggers so if you want to contribute, please contact us. After all, we believe that collaboration is fundamental to an association.

TAPP is an association. Why? According to ASAE & the Center:

“associations are groups of people who find strength in numbers while sharing common interests. By definition, associations exist for the mutual enrichment and advancement of their members.”

As the third generation owner of an association management company, I thought it made sense to create a new organization using a model which was familiar. An association combines elements – networking, education, resources, experts, and most importantly members. Engaged members are the most valuable element – they create energy and conversations. Personally I learn as much from my peers as I do from seminars and articles.

An association with engaged members and rich resources is a powerful organization. The Talented Alliance of Part-time Professionals wants to TAPP into the power of the part-time community. As we grow, we know that you will learn as much from one another as you will from TAPP directly.

We want TAPP to be the ultimate resource for part-time – both for individuals and companies. When an individual has a positive experience working part-time, he or she is more likely to want to work part-time in the future. And a company with terrific part-time employees are more likely to hire part-time in the future. A win –win!

Linda Guild is the CEO and Founder of TAPP. In addition she is the owner and CEO of The Guild Associates, Inc. an association management company founded in 1932. She fosters dogs and is volunteering for Boston Battles Parkinson's, a new non-profit.
