Growing up Catholic and attending Catholic school for 12 years, I always attended Church on Easter Sunday. I always got a pretty new dress and new shoes. Up until I was a teenager I always wore a hat and gloves too. I have to say, even as an adult, I look forward to seeing how the little girls are dressed (especially the girls, since I have a boy) almost as much as I look forward to the red carpet at the Oscars. I was a little disappointed this Easter. Don’t get me wrong, there were some adorable outfits, but I saw some of the young boys in shorts, sneakers, and some of the girls had dresses above the knee.

Someone recently posted on face book “what would you do if you had 3 wishes” and the only limitation is that you can’t wish for more wishes. I read the first response which had all very selfless wishes that made me think, “oh yeah, me too!” Later on I thought what if I could have 3 selfish wishes and 3 selfless wishes? Or maybe I can get one of each……do I have time to write them all down and figure out which one’s I would actually choose? Well, since I haven’t run into anyone that has offered me wishes, I suppose I could think about it now and save myself some time later when I am asked. So my 3 noble wishes would include the following:
One only needs to walk in my front door or glance into my car to know that I am not an organized person. I love everything to be clean and in its place and though it’s how my mother raised us to be, I am just not capable of it. My sister inherited the neat gene leaving me surrounded by dust and clutter. I take offense at well meaning people and magazine articles that tell me I should just do this or that and everything would be so simple and so much better. Just take 5 minutes a day to run a cloth over the furniture or convert empty shoeboxes into the most adorable toy holders. If I had 5 extra minutes a day I would put it to better use – like showering, or cutting my children’s nails instead of letting them grind down naturally like rodents. So, I’d like to take five minutes to tell you what I do to get by and stay sane with 3 small children and two jobs. And it has nothing to do with shoeboxes.
