TAPP Wire - January 2011
Message From The CEO
2011 has brought a deep freeze and much snow to many states across the country. As a result many are scrambling to make alternative arrangements for work and care. We’d love to hear from you how you are handling the complications caused by the snowy weather.
In this issue of the TAPP Wire, you’ll have the opportunity to meet some of our experts; learn about some time management strategies from our January webinar; view the results of our survey on part-time employment; and meet Allison, a full-time graphic designer who is expecting her first child and wants to switch to part-time work.
~ Linda J. Guild, CAE, CEO & Founder
The results for our part-time employment survey are in! Prior to the launch of TAPP, we distributed a survey to learn more about the realities and perceptions of part-time employment. This segment focuses on the responses from those currently working part-time, and includes answers to questions such as "Who works part-time?"; "Why do people work part-time?"; "To what extent do part-time workers feel that their part-time positions utilize their skills, education, and experience?"; "What job search strategies do part-time workers find to be most successful?"; "What are the advantages to working part-time?"; "What are the challenges to working part-time?"; and "What advice would part-time workers give to those considering working part-time?". This month, TAPP hosted the first of a three-part time management webinar series, with guest speaker Andy Winig. A lifelong learner and advocate of leadership development, Andy’s program centered around the Collective Engineering™ Leadership Model, which he designed based on his 20 years of experience developing high-performing teams as an entrepreneur, software engineering manager, franchisee, and community leader. In this month’s webinar, Andy shared three types of lists that can be used to help create more hours in your day: the stress list, the daily checklist, and the responsibilities list. Click here to learn how you can use each of these lists to increase your productivity and decrease stress.
